Ivan Shalmin

Ivan Shalmin (1959−2022) was an architect and artist based in Moscow. He was born in Novosibirsk. He received his education at the Novosibirsk Engineering and Construction Institute (NISI), in the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning. For more than twenty years, he worked on the design and implementation of architectural and interior projects, having developed over seventy projects in total.

Since 2016, Ivan Shalmin began working with digital painting. His first solo exhibitions, combining architecture and visual art, took place in 2020 in Moscow and Novosibirsk. In his works, he developed a visual language based on the intuitive perception of form, space, and inner state, which later led to the creation of the Psychedelics series.
