Shaura Gallery presents the series "Vibrations" and "Monuments of New York" by Valera and Natasha Cherkashin.
"Vibrations" is a series about the human condition between life and disappearance. Shot in the waters of the Persian Gulf, the body is reduced to a visual signal and the face to a trace of presence. Water functions as a space of transformation rather than environment.
The "Vibrations" series is a visual-philosophical cycle in which the body and face are treated as architectural and iconographic systems. The project examines the origin and repetition of the human image as a structured phenomenon.
"Monuments of New York" addresses the idea of a new monument and the latent social tension of the city. The image of a "burning" New York operates as a metaphor for civilizational conflict.
Low-angle framing monumentalizes ordinary people, shifting the traditional hierarchy of monument, hero, and power. History is understood as already present in the contemporary moment, but not yet fully recognized.
